Welcome . . .

Hosted by the Faculty of Theology at the University of St. Michael’s College and organized by John Paul William Gibson, PhD student in theology, & Prof. Pablo Argárate, Professor of Patristics, the reading groups in Greek and Latin seek to give anyone interested in Biblical Greek and Ecclesiastical Latin an opportunity to hone (and develop) their skills with these languages. All who are interested are welcome to join us – whether you are a Toronto School of Theology student, a non-student, or a fisherman or tax-collector; if you have mastered Greek & Latin, or are a relative beginner, please join us. You can participate as much or as little as you wish.

Texts for Greek Group

The Greek Group will likely be starting this term with this text:

And of course, you might want to pick up a Greek New Testament:

There are a couple of editions of the Greek New Testament available. The above edition is recommended, and features a substantial footer (often half of the entire page) wherein difficult verb forms and all words which appear 30 times or fewer in the New Testament are parsed and defined.

Both of these books can be purchased online at AbeBooks:

or at Crux Books in Toronto:

Latin Group Text

The Latin Group will likely be reading primarily from the Latin Bible:

It can be purchased at Crux Books:

A Veritable Cornucopia of Resources . . .

Whenever I reflect on how only very few students of Greek know about the Zhubert website, it invariably leads me to ponder the nature of both goodness and justice, and the question of theodicy, generally:

If it is both:
1) something about the Vulgate
2) not here
then, you probably don't really need it:
